- APSPDCL has activated emergency protocols to tackle anticipated infrastructural damages caused by Cyclone Murasu.
- Authorities are prioritizing rapid restoration frameworks to minimize prolonged blackouts for local residents and critical facilities.
NEW DELHI — In anticipation of severe weather disruptions brought by the advancing Cyclone Murasu, the Southern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh (APSPDCL) has mobilized a specialized workforce exceeding 2,000 electricity officials to tackle potential infrastructural failures in the Nellore and Tirupati districts. The emergency deployment, initiated on a war footing, represents a strategic concentration of technical expertise designed to secure regional power grids and expedite post-storm recovery operations.
This proactive mobilization comes on the heels of increasingly volatile weather patterns along the southeastern coastline, where severe cyclonic storms historically inflict heavy damage on public utilities, snapping transmission lines and uprooting distribution transformers. Utility providers across the region have faced mounting pressure in recent years to enhance disaster resilience, prompting state-run energy companies to transition from reactive repairs to preemptive staging of resources ahead of landfall.
According to reports by The Hindu, the emergency personnel have been systematically drawn from several interior and southern districts—including Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Kurnool, Nandyal, Kadapa, Chittoor, and Annamayya—to form high-mobility rapid response units. Senior management within APSPDCL emphasized that these incoming crews are equipped with heavy machinery, replacement hardware, and auxiliary generators to immediately address grid outages as soon as weather conditions permit safe field intervention.
