Telangana Administration Safeguards Public Assets Valued at Rs 1.5 Lakh Crore, Alleges Prior BRS Land Grabbing

HYDERABAD — Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy revealed on Tuesday that his administration has successfully shielded public real estate valued at approximately Rs 1.5 lakh crore from unauthorized seizures since assuming office in December 2023. The sweeping disclosure highlights a major ongoing effort by the state apparatus to recover valuable civic assets across various districts that were allegedly targeted by influential political figures.
The sweeping state intervention centers heavily on accusations directed at former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and his immediate family members. According to the current administration, the previous leadership orchestrated deliberate attempts to acquire prime real estate parcels in Miyapur, a high-value zone near Hyderabad. These specific tracts have since been secured following legal battles that successfully established Supreme Court-backed protections against further commercial exploitation.
According to investigative briefings published by The Hindu, the incumbent leadership has systematically cataloged numerous land parcels throughout the state that faced imminent risks of encroachment by prominent figures tied to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Officials emphasized that these targeted properties, spanning several strategic commercial and residential corridors, represent vital public resources meant for civic infrastructure rather than private enrichment.
Looking ahead, the Telangana government plans to audit vulnerable municipal land banks continuously while deploying specialized enforcement task forces to deter future illicit claims. Legal analysts suggest this ongoing confrontation between the ruling administration and opposition leadership will likely escalate political tensions throughout the region, setting a precedent for how historical land disputes are handled in southern India.
