Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Posts 5.79% Profit Surge, Launches Two Agri Loan Schemes to Boost Rural Economy

The Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Ltd. (NStCB) reported a 5.79% increase in net profit, reaching Rs 1,319.50 lakh during the fiscal year 2025-26, officials announced on Monday. The announcement, delivered from Dimapur on October 21, also marked the launch of two new loan schemes aimed at bolstering agricultural value chains across the region.
The profit rise represents a continued upward trajectory for NStCB, which has long served as a financial mainstay for Nagaland's cooperative sector. Cooperative banks in the Northeast have historically navigated liquidity constraints and outreach challenges, making this performance indicator particularly significant for stakeholders monitoring regional financial health. Bank leadership attributed the results to disciplined management and growing trust among member-institutions.
According to reports by Nagaland Post, NStCB Managing Director R. Lotha stated that the new loan schemes are designed to bridge financing gaps for small-scale agri-processors and farmer collectives. He added that the initiatives align with the state's broader rural development agenda and aim to translate profit growth into tangible support for farming communities. Financial analysts noted that the dual focus on profitability and purpose-driven lending sets a positive precedent for cooperative institutions nationwide.
Looking ahead, NStCB plans to monitor the uptake of the new loan products in the coming quarters, setting targets for disbursement volumes and impact metrics on agricultural output. The bank's board is expected to review further capital enhancement strategies as it positions itself at the intersection of cooperative heritage and modern rural finance. Industry observers suggest that the dual achievement of profit growth and targeted scheme launches could inspire similar models across India's cooperative banking network.
