Nagaland Advisor Ikuto Zhimomi Launches Four LADP-ICONIC Projects in Aghunato, Boosting Rural Infrastructure

Advisor for Land Resources G. Ikuto Zhimomi inaugurated four development projects under the LADP-ICONIC scheme in Aghunato's 34 Assembly Constituency, Nagaland, from October 20 to 22, officials confirmed. The three-day programme marked the first major rollout of the flagship programme in the region.
The LADP-ICONIC initiative, launched by the Nagaland government's Land Resources department, targets last-mile connectivity, rural housing, and community infrastructure in underserved constituencies. Aghunato, often classified as a frontier block, has historically faced delays in project sanctioning and fund disbursement, making this rollout a barometer for the state's developmental trajectory. The scheme aligns with broader efforts to modernize land records, improve rural access roads, and empower local governance structures ahead of the next legislative session.
According to reports by Nagaland Post, the inauguration was met with optimism from local ward members and civil society actors, who viewed the projects as long-overdue interventions in a region grappling with terrain-induced connectivity challenges. Advisor Zhimomi emphasized that the initiatives are designed to be 'people-centric,' with transparent monitoring mechanisms and community participation at the forefront. The state's Chief Minister's office has been briefed on the ground-level progress, with directives to expedite similar schemes across other constituencies.
Following the successful conclusion of the Aghunato leg, the Land Resources department has indicated plans to extend the LADP-ICONIC framework to additional assembly constituencies in the coming quarters. Stakeholders anticipate that the momentum generated will translate into accelerated tendering processes, increased capital allocation, and a measurable impact on rural livelihood indices. Analysts suggest the initiative could also serve as a template for integrating technology-driven governance in India's northeastern frontier states.
